If your floor scrubber isn’t dispensing water, you’re not alone—this is one of the most common issues operators run into. The good news? Many times, the problem is fixable and straightforward with a quick inspection. Here’s a step-by-step troubleshooting guide to help you get back up and scrubbing in no time.
Step 1: Check the Solution Tank
Make sure your solution tank has water (and detergent, if used). Sometimes the tank runs dry without you realizing it—especially during long cleaning shifts. If it’s empty, refill it and check if the problem is solved.
Step 2: Inspect the Solution Control Valve
Many floor scrubbers have a valve that controls water flow. If it's turned off, clogged, or malfunctioning, no water will come out. Open the valve all the way and check for any debris or mineral buildup blocking the flow.
Step 3: Look at the Solution Filter
Over time, the solution filter can clog with sediment, especially if you’re using hard water or low-quality detergent. Clean or replace the filter if necessary. This filter is typically located underneath the floor scrubber.
Step 4: Examine the Hoses
Hoses can kink, disconnect, or clog. Follow the line from the tank to the scrub deck and check for leaks, blockages, or loose connections. Reconnect or clean as needed.
Step 5: Is the Solenoid Valve Working?
The solenoid valve controls water flow electronically. If it’s faulty or not getting power, your machine won’t dispense water. You may hear a soft click when it activates—no sound could mean it’s malfunctioning.
Step 6: Check for Error Codes
Some newer floor scrubbers show error codes on their display panel. If your machine has one, check the manual or look up the code for more clues.
